Larry Shallenberger is head of compliance at Sarah Reed in Erie, Pennsylvania, specialists in mental and behavioral health. Larry shares their process of leading through the tumultuous last four years, coming to terms with the burnout in their staff team, and facing the reality that - as a trauma-informed organisation - they were, themselves, traumatised. He gives a fascinating narration of the macro events of the last few years, and how the organisation ran the risk of heading down into a trauma-spiral. He then discusses some of the tools they are still utilising to move towards healing and integration of the trauma and loss they have experienced. If you are leading or engaged in a care-giving organisation, then Larry's story will ring true. As Larry explains, the work we do in perceiving and articulating the story so far equips us to move forward into healing and a hopeful future. 00.00 Introductions 02.45 The multiple traumas of the last four years: covid, racial justice movement, the great resignation, global unrest and cost of living crisis. 13.00 An organisation in a trauma-spiral 18.44 A model for understanding where the organisation was at 28.00 The SELF model 30.55 TERA for exploring levels of safety organisationally 36.00 Using a story narrative for finding a way back to identity
