Is Honkai Impact 3rd Really Dying? Here’s the Truth!

While a lot of people love to spread online the idea that Honkai Impact 3rd is a "dead game", or "dying" the truth is somewhere in the middle. While Honkai Impact 3rd experienced a loss in revenue and player base ever since Part 1 ended, if we look at the different trends surrounding this game over its lifetime, we'll notice that this is not uncommon and that the game suffered this kind of decline as early as 2019 - 2020. It's normal for old games to have a decrease in player base as time goes on and people leave either because they are burnt out or chose to dedicate the limited amount of time they have in a day to other games. Honkai Impact 3rd is an old game that, unfortunately, suffered from a lot of issues typical of the time before gacha games were mainstream and are not so tolerated today, like a leaderboard system, convoluted UI, and tons of currencies. This combined with the fact that Kiana's story - which was one of the main reasons people stayed - ended, and the lack of accessibility for people who prefer an ENG Dub or want to play on another language like Spanish on the GLB server led to an expected decline. However, the situation is not as grim as many people say online. While the decline in player base is true, the game still makes more money than most gacha games, even more than many who are much younger. Its revenue is nowhere near scoffed at, and I believe that the main reason people are so harsh with HI3 is because it's a HoYoverse game and it's constantly compared to HoYo's newer titles, which is not a fair comparison in my opinion. There were a lot more talking points I wanted to address in the video, but chose not to because it would have made everything too long. All in all, Honkai Impact 3rd is far from dead. The game is still thriving in both CN and GLB, making more money than some of the younger competitors like PGR and AG. At the same time, the game is already part of the HoYoverse eco-system and the Honkai series, which will only get more popular as time goes on. This will always provide an influx of players interested in trying it out. At the same time, Part 2 is getting really good, and the devs worked really hard to provide amazing quality-of-life updates recently, assuring players that the development of this game is nowhere near its end.
