During his 20-year career, the 43-year-old has seen the resurgence of classic Cantopop, a genre that typically refers to songs composed and written in Cantonese from any era. For many fans, classic Cantopop music was created in the 1980s when artists like Anita Mui and Leslie Cheung were at the peak of their careers. During the so-called Y2K period, some of the most iconic artists included Joey Yung, Eason Chan and Sammi Cheng. Sabine is doing his part to help classic Cantopop gain an international audience by connecting the Hong Kong diaspora through their love of the music.
