According to this theory, about 4.5 billion years ago, the early Earth collided with a massive Mars-sized planet called Theia. This catastrophic impact was so powerful that it blasted huge amounts of molten rock and debris into space. Over time, this orbiting debris slowly came together under gravity, eventually forming the Moon we see today. Scientists believe this event completely reshaped the early Earth. The collision likely melted large parts of the planet, creating a global ocean of magma and dramatically altering Earth’s rotation and tilt. Evidence for this theory comes from Apollo mission lunar samples, which show that Moon rocks have a chemical composition very similar to Earth’s mantle. This suggests the Moon formed from material originally belonging to Earth after the collision. Modern computer simulations have helped scientists better understand how such an impact could have occurred. Some recent studies even suggest that the Moon may have formed much faster than previously believed — possibly within weeks or months, instead of taking millions of years. Other new ideas, like the Synestia model, propose that the Earth and Theia briefly formed a spinning, vaporized cloud of rock before the Moon condensed from it. The Giant Impact Hypothesis not only explains the origin of the Moon but also helps scientists understand why Earth has such a large satellite compared to other rocky planets. This ancient cosmic collision may have played a crucial role in shaping Earth’s climate stability, ocean tides, and even the conditions that allowed life to evolve ✅ Subscribe To Our Other YouTube Channels: Theneer Idaivelai: / @theneeridaivelai Naattu Nadappu: / @naattunadappu Skiddy: / @skiddytamil Lets Dance: / @letsdance3608 Welcome to Streetlight!
