Vegetable And Fruit Market Sivas /Turkey Production of Fruit & Vegetables In Turkey Turkey’s fresh fruit & vegetable production is approximately 48 million tons. In the January-August period of 2019, Turkey exported $1.2 billion worth of fresh fruits and vegetables to 114 countries. According to data from the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB), Turkey exported around 2 million tons of fresh fruit and vegetable exports to 114 countries in the first eight months of the year, generating $1.2 billion in revenue. In this period, the Russian Federation took the lead in the country's fresh fruit and vegetable exports at 455,190 tons. During the January-August period, fresh fruit and vegetables exported to the Russian Federation amounted to $375.4 million, followed by Germany with $159.8 million, Iraq with $98.4 million, Romania with $81.5 million and Ukraine with $59.1 million. Turkey is the world leader in the production of Apricots (%18 of world production), Cherries (20% of world prod.), Figs and Quinces (25% of world prod. for each) and Grapes (6% of world production). Citrus fruits have always been a traditional export item of Turkey. The citrus fruit production in 2014 season is approximately 3,6 million tons. Oranges being the most important variety with an output of 1,6 million tons, the production of other varieties are as follows; soft citrus 942.226 tons and lemon 726.283 tons, grapefruit 228.799 tons. 30 million tons of vegetables is produced annually in Turkey. Tomatoes take the first place in production with an output of 11,8 million tons in 2013. Potatoes (4,7 million tons), Pepper (1,7 million tons), Cucumber (1,7 million tons) and Eggplant (799.000 tons) follow it. Many vegetables are available all the year round due to the adaptation of undercover production techniques. Major products grown undercover are tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, melons, aubergines, green beans, squashes. Fruit & Vegetable Exports Of Turkey Turkey Total Fruit & Vegetable Exports (2016): 3,5 million tons (2015): 3,3 million tons The volume of fresh fruit exports amounted 811.286 tons in 2016. In 2016, citrus exports rose to 1,6 million tons. Turkey exported 650.000 tons easy peelers and 183.328 tons grapefruits. As for lemons and oranges, the export figures were respectively 450.458 tons and 387.641 tons.
