Hello, neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer. And today, we're taking a look at the Roadmaster tow bar base plate on a 2022 Buick Encore GX. When flat towing a vehicle, there's five main components that are required, and we're gonna start with the base plate. The base plate is attached to the vehicle, to the frame, and that's gonna have our arms as well as all of our hookup points for the rest of our connections. So that's the main thing you're gonna need on your vehicle. Moving along, you're also going to have a braking system. The braking system is legally required, and that's gonna be sending signals from when you hit the brakes of your RV to the towed vehicle. And that's gonna bring it to a stop and slow it down proportionately to the RV. It's gonna save a lot of wasted energy and also make it safer on the RV as well as the towed vehicle because this is gonna be slowing down rather than using force to push this forward. Now, some of the other things that we have are gonna be the breakaway switch with that braking system. And that's in case of an accidental disconnect, this will pull out, putting the brakes on the vehicle, and bringing it to a stop. Some other safety that we have included in those components is gonna be your safety chain loops here. Now, this is also in case of an accidental disconnect. We have these cables here attached to our RV as well as the base plate on our vehicle to make sure that they're gonna stay connected. We also have our electrical umbilical here, and that's going to send the signals from our RV to the towed vehicle for all of our turn signals as well as our braking system. And then finally, our tow bar. And this is gonna be the connection point between the RV and the base plate on the towed vehicle. So here, we have our base plate installed with the fascia back on. And you'll notice this is done really well and the fact that your safety loops here, your breakaway switch, your electrical connection, and even where the arms go in fit really well with minimal amounts of trimming to get this to work. Other vehicles, you kinda end up chopping a lot of this fascia up and it doesn't look so sightly. This works really well. It was well-designed to fit in the existing grill. Now, as far as this installation goes compared to other base plates, this is a great kit. Roadmaster did a really good job of designing it to where there's no drilling involved. The fit and finish was awesome. And as you can tell, they've really thought this out to make it easier for installation. Other kits involve some drilling into the frame and can be a little bit cumbersome to get them all lined up. That's not the case here. Now, you will have to take the front fascia off, and there is gonna be some trimming on the backside as well as a little bit on the front grill. But overall, it's a pretty easy install. Now, what's nice too is you have these removable arms. So whenever you're ready to use it, it's as simple as pushing this in, twisting, and that locks in place. So that way, hooking up is nice and easy. And then, whenever you're not using it, you can simply pull these out, and it gives it a little bit more of an OEM appearance. Now, when you're ready to hook up to your tow bar, it's also very simple. Just pull this clip up. That's attached to a nice cable, so you're not gonna lose that pin. And we can simply put our arm through right in between the bracket there, and then run our pin through. Line up our holes, and that goes in place. Let's go ahead and do it on the other side. And now we've made those connections. Now, to simply hook up the rest, we have our safety loops here. We're gonna cross these over. We then hook up our umbilical here. That way, we can send the communication back and forth from the vehicle to the camper. And then, we have our breakaway chain here. And this is simply going to run to the actual hitch itself on the RV. We can get our safety loops hooked up here as well as our umbilical. Now, with all of the components in place, you're ready to get your vehicle set up for a flat tow mode and hit the road. Now, before we begin the installation, I highly suggest having a way to capture all your hardware that you're gonna be taking off as there's gonna be a decent amount. You wanna make sure you have all those, so when you put it all back, it's gonna make it a lot easier. So first step, we're gonna grab a T15 Torx bi
