As is well known, the development of novel and functional materials has been contributing to advances in fundamental science as well as the development of new and/or high-performance devices, which has sometimes brought about breakthroughs even in the design concept of devices. In order to achieve this, our laboratory is dedicated to creating novel materials and developing new physical properties by controlling the structure and arrangement of materials at the atomic and molecular levels. The researchers are investigating a wide range of materials including semiconductors, superconductors, magnetic materials, topological materials, conductive polymers, and biological soft materials, while fully utilizing state-of-the-art thin-film growth technologies along with high-precision and high-resolution apparatuses for various measurements. As an NTT laboratory, our ultimate mission is not limited to contributing to progress in materials science but to eventually revolutionize information communication technology.
