Fans queued outside the HMV record shop on Dublin’s Grafton Street. They were there to be among the first people worldwide to get a copy of the latest U2 album ‘Rattle and Hum’. Fans talked about why they are queuing at midnight to buy a copy of ‘Rattle and Hum’. The HMV store manager, Bob Walpole, said he had never seen anything on that scale for an album launch. U2 manager Paul McGuinness signed copies of the album for fans.Paul McGuinness talked about ‘Rattle and Hum’ and described it as the best work the band had done until then. Bono, Edge and Adam Clayton arrived at the HMV shop to the delight of fans. Bono expressed surprise at the number of fans who had turned up and asked reporter Cathy Halloran how RTÉ knew the band were going to be there.
