Generative AI systems increasingly create representations of individuals using personal data in ways that cannot be fully anticipated or controlled. In this talk, philosopher and AI ethicist Giada Pistilli examines how these technologies challenge legal and ethical frameworks built around consent. She explores three fundamental challenges: • the scope problem • the temporality problem • the autonomy trap Together, these issues create what she calls a “consent gap” in generative AI systems. Through concrete examples, the talk shows how current legal frameworks struggle to address these challenges and asks whether responsibility should shift from individuals toward AI system developers. The session concludes by exploring alternative ethical approaches for protecting rights and autonomy in an increasingly AI-driven world. __________________________ 👤 ABOUT THE SPEAKER Giada Pistilli is a philosopher specializing in AI ethics, focusing on conversational agents and generative AI. She holds a PhD in philosophy from Sorbonne University.
