Disclaimer: Persons and events are entirely fictional. It's part of a greater story...don't get yer panties in a wad. This recording is believed to be the only surviving performance by the Mayfair Sisters. Made in 1923, it captures the voices of the four sisters shortly before tragedy struck. While traveling with their orchestra and stage troupe, the Mayfair Sisters were killed in a catastrophic train accident that claimed the lives of the entire company. No further recordings were ever made. What remains is this single performance—a rare and haunting fragment of a promising act cut short, preserved here in remembrance. The song performed, “I Wonder Who’s Kissing Her Now,” was written in 1909, with music by Joseph E. Howard and lyrics by Will M. Hough. Originally introduced in the musical comedy The Prince of Tonight, the song became a widely popular sentimental standard during the vaudeville and early recording eras. The composition is now in the public domain, allowing it to be freely performed and preserved. This recording stands as both a musical artifact and a memorial to voices lost to history.
