The infernal landlord showerhead that many are likely familiar with. If you have this showerhead, you likely did not purchase it. It either came with your rental or you received one from a company like Comed in government sponsored programs begging you on their hands and knees to stop abusing your local municipalities water district, only for you to try (then fail) to sell it on Facebook Marketplace for 8 dollars. Joking aside this is the most ubiquitous showerhead made by Niagara Conservation, and despite it's apparent reputation I actually think it's quite robust. This is a tamper resistant showerhead, made out of ABS plastic and It seems to have come into existence sometime in the mid 2000s. Or at least to market then. This was back when water conserving showerheads were making new ground and were all the rage. Anyway when I say ubiquitous I mean this thing is everywhere. It is usually purchased in bulk by apartment complexes or similar company/organization which requires very many cheap showerheads that don't allow renters to drain the monthly water budget. Or as previously mentioned: Given out by the government for free. ================================================= This showerhead has two distinct "modes": ================================================= 1 Is a standard rain mode, projecting a cone-within-a-cone of thin needle like streams. The outer and inner cones working in tandem to provide a wide, full feeling shower spray with no deadzone in the center. 2 Is a pulse-jet massage mode, which is actually surprisingly powerful and also pleasing due to it's pulsating. The switch between these modes is transitional, allowing for a third setting with both spray settings simultaneously to varying degrees of stream strength. You switch spray settings by rotating the collar of the showerhead to recess or pop-up the core. This allows you to stop rotating the collar whenever and have it mix the two modes together to however much is desired. Leading to a lot of variance in how this showerhead can be experienced. ================================================= Despite the feelings some may reserve for this particular showerhead, I actually think it is quite robust. Definitely one of the best cheap showerheads on the market. The variety of spray settings and the double cone spray design compensate well for the low flow-rate allowing for it to adequately clean all parts of the body despite being wall mounted. It gets the job done and the massage function is good. That being said, these showerheads do seem to have a reputation to break down and clog quicker than their contemporaries. I imagine a potential contributing factor to this reputation seems to be that this showerhead doesn't drain itself easily. To Niagara Conservation's credit they did fix this issue, as in my experience newer production Earth showerheads don't really retain water at all. However older Earth showerheads (The ones with three body segments) seem to retain a ridiculous amount of water. The one I tested from around 2008 still had about a fourth a cup of water sloshing around inside 1 month after uninstalling. Even with newer models having the drainage issue ostensibly solved, they still take quite a while to dry out completely, usually taking 3 days in my experience and as one could imagine, water retention could feasibly contribute to more buildup.
