The Ford Mk1 Escort and RS200 are making a remarkable comeback, thanks to Boreham Motorworks in the United Kingdom, which has signed a brand license agreement with Ford to produce a limited number of these iconic models over the next few years. The Mk1 Escort, originally built between 1967 and 1975, was renowned for its dominance in rally stages during the late 1960s and early 1970s. The Ford RS200, famous for its participation in the Group B rally era of the 1980s, saw its production of road-going models last only from 1984 to 1986. The return of the RS200 coincides with its 40th anniversary. Unlike continuation models, Boreham’s RS200 will be an entirely new build from the ground up. Teaser images hint at modern updates, including LED headlights, while the interior is expected to feature contemporary enhancements akin to Kimera’s recreation of the Lancia 037. This suggests a blend of modern technology with the classic design, ensuring the RS200 remains relevant and functional in today’s automotive landscape. In contrast, the Mk1 Escort will be crafted to be blueprint-accurate and period-sympathetic, even receiving a continuation Vehicle Identification Number. This attention to detail will ensure that the new Mk1 Escort retains the authentic feel and appearance of the original, appealing to enthusiasts who cherish the heritage of classic rally cars. Importantly, both models will be street-legal in the United Kingdom, allowing owners to enjoy these legendary vehicles on public roads. While specific details regarding pricing, power, and performance are yet to be disclosed, Boreham Motorworks has indicated that the RS200 will retain its original mid-engine, four-wheel-drive layout. The use of extensive carbon fiber is expected to maintain the lightweight characteristics of the original RS200, which featured a fiberglass body. Boreham Motorworks’ partnership with Ford does not end with these two models. The company plans to produce at least five additional cars under this license, including both continuation models and recreations. This initiative promises to bring more legendary Ford vehicles back to life, blending nostalgia with modern engineering. #FordRS200 #Mk1Escort #BorehamMotorworks Get More Great Car Videos - Subscribe: https://goo.gl/BSIaFc
