Her research interests span plant physiology, genetics and marker identification to biochemistry to understand the impact of varied germplasm in varied environments on plant quality and sensorial characteristics. Her research career started at Cambridge where she completed her PhD in Plant Sciences. She completed post doc research at Cambridge, University of Copenhagen and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California before moving to industrial research at British American Tobacco, followed by Vertical Futures. Jen is interested in the opportunities of controlled environment agriculture to reduce waste and costs and improve yield in salad crops, as well as leveraging this knowledge to develop systems for feeding astronauts freshly grown produce.
