Wing Chun Siu Nim Tao form.. or "Good Little Idea" form this set is probably about 70 years old coming from the Yip Man lineage through his first disciple in Hong Kong.. Leung Sheung.. although this is prob somewhat different from what Leung Jan and Chan Wa-Shun taught and from those before them going back to the Red Boat Opera Group...fighters and insurgents during the late 1800s..So this set really doesnt move from being planted on the ground in "goat riding stance" hehe.. this set is usually done abysmally SLOW and it teaches the proper structure of the movement at all points throughout a movement.. this set is also done as a type of standing meditation. I learned this Set from Sifu Eddie Chong back in 1990 when He was teaching in Salt Lake City, before He learned Pan Nam Wing Chun. This set has minor differences from most other lineages.. in the cross arm opening it rolls instead of lifting.. and many times in the set after a punch then tan sao instead of a big circle Huen sao then close fist and return to chamber in other lineages we use a smaller circling fook sao, then close fist before the arm is brought back into the chamber position. Also our Fook sao has the thumb inside the hand, locking down the middle finger to give structure to the Hook..or bottom part of the fook sao, instead of just a loose palm formation with the thumb on top like in other lineages. My sets are far from perfect but I try to retain them exactly as I was taught to pass them on correctly. I focus much more on drills and conditioning, striking sand bags, wooden dummy and real life application.. I don't think the Sets are some sort of Magical or Sacred Qi Gong or anything...the Sets are just what they are. Thanks for watching.
