Flat Roofing with New Pitch and CertainTeed Flintastic Commercial Roofing in Irvine Ca

Here we have a short video that shows the additional of a pitch to a flat roof we did in Irvine Ca. a few years back. Adding a pitch to a flat roof can done several different ways. If the project is big enough, I would look into a foam layered insulation to do this. We choose to rip some 2 x 4 lumber to give the roof enough of a pitch to make sure the water pours quickly off the roof deck. I think we got a 1/2 of pitch for every foot of slope run. The slope or run was only about 7 feet. We probably have a rise of about 3 1/2" inches from front to back. More than enough to get the water off the roof and into the gutter. We removed two rows of tile in order to make sure we could tie in the CertainTeed commercial roofing 18' up the pitched roof slope as per the manufacture's specifications. It is actually quite a bit of work to add a pitch and not very cost effective in most cases. Because this roof deck was very short the customer didn't have to add much cost and now has a very good pitch to the flat roof.
