TCR turned heads in the indie and EDM worlds with their first two LPs, 2012's self-titled album and 2013's "Nation II Nation," which blended electronic music with traditional aboriginal music. The sound is both completely original and totally mesmerizing. "Nation II Nation" was shortlisted for the 2013 Polaris Music Prize and the band garnered two 2014 JUNO Award nominations for Breakthrough Group of the Year and Electronic Album of the Year. In this interview, Campeau discusses the band's history and how they developed their signature sound, using their spotlight to support the Idle No More movement and aboriginal issues, as well as their surprise at all the critical and fan reaction.
