On Saturday 27 September and Sunday 28 September, the International Vocal Competition ’s-Hertogenbosch (IVC) proudly presents the Final Rounds of ‘Theatre in Song ‘– streaming live on YouTube! For the very first time in the world, eleven outstanding singer-instrumentalist duos from across the globe transform the classical song recital into a theatrical journey. Each finalist presents a 40–45 minute performance built around their own concept – from love and exile, to nature, reflection, and identity. Expect the unexpected: German Lieder, French Mélodies, world premieres, bold contemporary works, and the specially commissioned piece When I Was by Karmit Fadael. An international jury of leading musicians and theatre makers – including Iain Burnside, Andrew Comben, Lisenka Heijboer Castañón, Robert Holl, Yvonne Kenny, Paul Kildea, and Corné Ran – will decide who takes home the prizes and a place on the international concert stage. After every presentation, the duo will be interviewed on stage by host Anna Trombetta, giving audiences deeper insight into their artistic vision and story. Join audiences worldwide and witness the birth of a new competition format where song becomes theatre, and stories come alive in music.
