Training Meridian Qi, Five Organs Qi, Microcosmic Orbit Qi, and "Hidden Force" . In internal martial arts, standing meditation progresses from the physical "unified force" to a more refined state of "hidden force" that transcends the use of muscular strength. This advancement not only solidifies internal energy but also makes it easier to contain and conserve internal Qi within the body. In Taiji standing meditation, the internal Qi drives the flow and operation of the "hidden force." Every posture and movement contains Qi energy, enabling one to issue power without overt action. Therefore, internal martial arts like Taiji, Xingyi, Bagua, and Qigong cultivate solid Qi energy skills through standing meditation and internal training methods. This discussion introduces Xingyi’s Five-Element Standing Meditation and Five-Element Boxing. The Five-Element Boxing is considered the mother of Xingyi. It integrates the body's internal Five-Element energies into physical forms and movements. Each posture accumulates Qi in different areas, creating "pockets" of energy storage. The Five-Element Standing Meditation also includes comprehensive internal martial arts Qigong principles, such as meridian Qi energy, organ-based Five-Element Qi energy, and the microcosmic orbit energy field of the body. By integrating these energies, the accumulated Qi in these "pockets" becomes the source for issuing internal force. These pockets correspond to the Five-Element energies associated with specific organs: Beng Quan (Crushing Fist): Element of wood, energy pocket in the liver. Pao Quan (Cannon Fist): Element of fire, energy pocket in the heart and middle chest (Shanzhong area). Heng Quan (Crossing Fist): Element of earth, energy pocket in the spleen and stomach. Pi Quan (Splitting Fist): Element of metal, energy pocket in the lungs. Zuan Quan (Drilling Fist): Element of water, energy pocket in the kidneys. Thus, "one breath" refers to the Qi stored in these energy pockets. This "one breath" nourishes the internal organs, strengthens them, and helps regulate bodily functions, achieving fitness and health benefits. Additionally, this is the source of power for issuing force. Therefore, Xingyi’s Five-Element Boxing allows the body to fill with Qi and quickly reach the state of unity between Qi and force. This not only enhances internal skill cultivation but also allows practitioners to circulate meridian Qi, expel turbid energy, absorb fresh energy, and eliminate disease. It nourishes the five organs, regulates their functions, and integrates the energy of the body’s microcosmic orbit for a unified practice that combines health and internal cultivation. Standing Meditation: Simply put, it is the practice of force and Qi energy. Through power-issuing drills, internal skills are accumulated, coarse strength is refined, and "hidden force" can be used to issue power, transcending the level of physical movements. By practicing Qi emission, practitioners reach the stage of refining essence into Qi and externalizing internal energy. This frees them from the predicament of practicing Qi without actual internal energy.
