My Mama’s online shop - https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/hatsmama... VIDEO INFORMATION: #1: EAT WHATEVER I WANT One of the best things about recovery is learning to listen to your body again. I now eat whatever I want, whenever I want without fear, guilt or shame. I trust my body and my body trusts me. We have both reached a place of balance which means my weight is stable no matter how much I eat. I urge you to not give up on your recovery so that you can reach the same place I am at. It’s amazing. #2: EAT 3000+ CALORIES EVERY DAY As you may or may not know, I followed the Minnie Maud method during my recovery. This meant eating to my hunger and consuming at least 3000 calories a day. Because I did this, my body now is fully healed and my metabolism is strong. I have been able to continue eating 3000+ without further weight gain because I am now healthy and my body burns off anything naturally that it doesn’t require. #3: BE CREATIVE As stated in the video, I didn’t have the energy to think creatively when I was ill. My mind was far too exhausted to think about anything other than food. However, now that I eat in abundance, I am full of energy to do whatever I feel like! #4: ALLOW MYSELF TO REST/RELAX During my ED, I found it impossible to rest. I simply ‘wasn’t allowed’ and it would cause me a lot of anxiety. Now, I can rest and chill out whenever I feel like it without guilt, fear or shame. If my body tells me it needs to have a nap, I let it! #5: READ WITH CONCENTRATION I used to either not have the energy or motivation to read or I wouldn’t be able to concentrate on the words. They would ‘go in one ear and out the other’. Now, I can read with full concentration and actually know what the hell is going on! #6: DRUM I love drumming! I always have. But my illness stole it away from me for many years. It feels amazing to be able to pursue my passion now. #7: BE EXCITED ABOUT THE FUTURE I used to dread the next hour, let alone the future. I used to fear that my life would be forever clouded by this illness and that I’d never be able happy. I didn’t feel able to dream of happy outcomes because I felt so trapped and stuck. But now, I think about my future with hope and with excitement…because, If overcoming an ED is possible, anything is. #8: EXERCISE FOR FUN It is SO nice to be able to move, exercise and do sports for the enjoyment of them and not to simply burn calories. PLEASE DO NOT exercise until you are truly ready. Remember, I have been recovering for 3.5 years and I didn’t do any exercise at all for about 18 months. I only ever do exercise/sports now when I truly want to because it feels amazing to be strong and fit after years of illness and weakness. I LISTEN TO MY BODY and if it doesn’t want to do anything that day and just sit on the couch, then that’s what I do. Please do the same. #9: SHOP EASILY Ugh. This used to suck. I would literally spend hours slowly walking around trying to find the lowest calorie, lowest carb, lowest fat, lowest taste thing I could find. It’s so amazing now to just walk up to a product and think, ‘That’ll do’, grab it and go on with my day. #10: THINK WITH A CLEAR MIND No more ED voice! Hooray! I can’t express how much of a difference this makes to my thought processes. The only one in charge of Hat now is Hat! #11: LEARN, STUDY AND REMEMBER I had to miss my last 2 years of school and I couldn’t go to college or University. I simply didn’t have the physical or mental energy to. So now, I’m a serial studier and do lots of online courses. I love being able to study again and actually remember what I’ve learnt. #12: WATCH WHAT I WANT I used to be obsessed with food shows, weight loss shows, blah blah blah shows. But now, I watch a variety of different shows depending on my mood! #13: BE LIVING PROOF THAT FULL RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE One of my biggest motivations to recover was help, guide or inspire people once I was better. It feels AMAZING to be able to show others that recovery is possible. I wish I could do more but my videos still reach a lot of people and I’m so grateful for that. #14: PLAY! When I was ill, I was serious…boring…lifeless. But now, I am Hat again! The true, happy, playful Hat that I used to be. #15: JOIN IN ON SOCIAL OCCASIONS I have to be honest, I am on the Autistic Spectrum so socialising is still really hard for me. However, it makes it SO much easier now I’m not afraid of food. 😊 DISCLAIMER I'm not a medical professional.
