The group seeks to overthrow the current Nigerian government and establish an Islamic regime. Boko Haram has targeted secular schools and churches, and their attacks have resulted in the deaths of over 75,000 Nigerians. In this video, Alessandro Monteduro, Director of Aid to the Church in Need, shares his insights on the situation in Nigeria. He also discusses the recent meeting between Pope Francis and two victims of Boko Haram, Janada Markus and Maria Joseph, who shared their harrowing experiences of being held captive by the group.
