Strasbourg, France was our next stop on the Viking Rhine River Cruise and what a stunning place! We walked around the medieval old town, Grande Ill, a Unesco World Heritage Site. We began at the old city ramparts and stone bridges, built for defence, Throughout Grand Ill, we followed the river Ille over historic bridges and past historic traditional Alsatian houses in the Petite France area with stunning views throughout. Our walk ended at the prominent landmark of Strasbourg, it's cathedral. Strasbourg Cathedral is a masterpiece of Gothic Architecture built between 1015-1459. The outside facade is covered in detailed statues and the inside contains amazing original stained glass windows and an astronomical clock. Strasbourg is such a charming place to wander.
