And two days earlier, we were contacted by a woman fighting cancer—terrified her tortoise would be left behind without care. So we did what we always do. We didn’t ask. We didn’t wonder why. We just showed up. Tonight, the sun sets on a brand new life for two tortoises: One from an animal shelter with severe infection and pain—finding obvious relief the moment his chin touched warm water. One we renamed Dorian—who splashed and swam like he was experiencing real joy for the first time. We don’t create storylines here.
