Take a peaceful walk through Dirleton, one of Scotland’s prettiest villages. Enjoy stone cottages, village green, gardens, and historic buildings along this 18-minute stroll. This is the kind of village that inspired Scottish Places Post — a little piece of Scotland sent through the post each month. Dirleton is a charming conservation village just 3 miles from North Berwick. Traditional houses frame the large village green, and many residents open their gardens once a year as part of Scotland’s Garden Scheme. You’ll also see the beautiful 400-year-old church, built in 1612 with later additions in 1650 and 1836. The stained glass window depicts St Francis and the animals. Across the village green, Dirleton Castle peeks behind its huge walls. This 13th-century medieval castle, though now a ruin, is open to the public to explore. I made another video taking a full tour of the castle gardens and castle itself — here’s the link: • Exploring Dirleton Castle & Gardens : Medi... Whether you’re here for history, gardens, or a relaxing stroll, this peaceful walk through Dirleton invites you to unwind and enjoy Scotland from wherever you are.
