ACS presents Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, a new setting composed by Von De Guzman in thanksgiving for its 19th anniversary. "To everything there is a season..." The Greeks have two words that they use when they refer to time - chronos and kairos. Chronos is more sequential, quantifiable, and even linear (hence chronology, anachronism, etc.). Kairos, on the other hand, is more cyclic, qualitative and opportune; while there is no exact English translation, it could be captured in expressions such as "the perfect timing" or "the time is ripe". Kairos is that space when everything, even those difficult to embrace, seems to fall in its rightful place, when different circumstances converge to constitute that sublime, yet fleeting moment. Such is the nature of time that Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 invites us to reflect on. In this period when the days seem too long, and when isolation and quarantine have dragged on, may this work invite us to be attentive to kairos moments in our lives as individuals, families, communities, and as one country. May these moments bring you peace. And in this life journey of seasons and kairos moments, may the God of all things accompany you along the way. -Bro. Dom Bulan, SJ
