Venezuelans Rally in Caracas Calling for Return of Maduro and Wife

MetroTV, Thousands of Venezuelans marched in Caracas on Tuesday, calling for the release of former president Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, two months after they were captured in the US military operation. Footage filmed on Tuesday shows protesters waving flags and holding signs reading: 'We want them back' and 'Free Maduro.' The march ended with speeches from local leaders and Nicolas Maduro Guerra, a lawmaker from the ruling United Socialist Party (PSUV) and Nicolas Maduro's son. The PSUV deputy stated that the captured politician has "faith in God and the Venezuelan people" and that he has 'peace of conscience' because he has committed no crime. The PSUV, Venezuela's ruling party, called the rally two months after US attacks that led to the detention of Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. The court hearing for Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, in federal court in New York has been moved to 26 March 2026, after prosecutors in the Southern District of New York and the defence jointly asked Judge Alvin Hellerstein for more time to prepare evidence and file pre-trial motions.
