DakshinaChitra opened to the public on 14 December 1996, the museum was founded and is being managed by the Madras Craft Foundation. Developed as a heritage village, DakshinaChitra has an array of displays and relocated originals of dwellings depicting the life pattern of people in the states of southern India. Here we can see the south Indian states of Karnataka, Tamilnadu Kerala & Andhra Pradesh their Traditions & cultures, architecture, art, folk performing arts, and crafts. The amenities include a research unit, crafts bazaar, playground, an area to hold religious functions, and a stone workshop. This is a nice place for children & students to get to know about South Indian traditions & cultures. Visiting Timings: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM and closed on Tuesday.
