There's some TransPennine services that can get you from Cleethorpes to Sheffield, but there's only ONE Northern service every day that will take you there via Gainsborough Central. This is surely one of the quirkiest train services anywhere in the UK, so I felt I really should give it a go. Besides, I've never been on the line through Brigg, Kirton Lindsey and Gainsborough Central, so it would also be fun to see what it has to offer. Hurry up with those chips and that beer.
