Time to revisit this underrated version of the OS called Windows 8.1. It was a massive improvement over Windows 7 in terms of User Interface, the new icons, the experience on gaming, and new features that were ahead of its time. Windows 8.1 was one of my #2 favorite versions of Windows below Windows XP and by revisiting it, the nostalgia blew my mind how memorable Windows 8.1 is. I missed this version of the OS a lot and the last time I used it was back in 2019 before I lost hatred on Windows 10 the following year. When times were simple back then, there's no AI Copilot, no Gemini, no Italian Brainrots, no ChapGPT, no Skibidi Toilet, and no cringe false advertisement games. Windows 8.1 was the last version of the OS to be standard. My favorite features about Windows 8.1 is Microsoft Store, Internet Explorer, and WildTangent Games. I also like the UI that feels more modern than Windows 7 since the Metro layout was unique with icons that feel like the Windows Phone version. Sadly, Microsoft ended the support on January of 2023 due to people switching to Windows 10 or Windows 11 (TCM Required). Revisiting this version brings back memories for gaming experience. On July 1, 2014, Microsoft told every school districts, businesses, and some governments to upgrade Windows XP to Windows 8.1 to prevent from malware, buy the same PC Tower that has the Windows 7 label and install 8.1, but keep the rest of the other sets similar, and backing up old files from the past. Windows 8.1 can be the alternative way to play old PC games if computers running Windows XP broken or damaged the hardware. The only downside with Windows 8.1 is that there are no pre-installed Games Explorer and Winaero made a patch of Windows Vista games for Windows 8.1 and Microsoft should've done it themselves when they update Windows 8 back in 2013. Games played: Feeding Frenzy (version 2.9.16.1) by GameHouse Zuma Deluxe (version 1.0) by PopCap Games Minesweeper (Windows Vista version) by Microsoft Heavy Weapon Deluxe (version 1.0) by PopCap Games Peggle Deluxe (version 1.0) by PopCap Games Bejeweled 2 Deluxe (version 1.0) by PopCap Games AstroPop Deluxe (version 1.0) by PopCap Games By today's standards, Windows 8.1 isn't supported for internet, but playing retro games for nostalgic purposes can be a treat for anyone who wanted to take a break from other tasks and algorithms.
