Hello everyone and welcome to the latest book review. This time it's a book of short stories called Sadvertising by Ennis Ćehić. I saw this on the shelves of my local book store then quickly looked it up on the app of my nearest library and I was lucky that it wasn't borrowed! Read over a couple of days, there were points where I just laughed out loud. It was a book that I kept coming back to over the two days because the stories were short - really short and they were creative. I also resonated with the characters and the life of a creative working in a structured work environment. It always leaves you feeling less than - as if you're wasting time doing work that is empty and meaningless. I started to think about not only the stories in this book but how they were written and I loved how they packed a punch - creative, imaginative and amusing - yet they resonated because it's likely we have worked in such places, we have worked with such people but also, we have wanted something more in our working lives too. A high recommend for me and I think it'll be one of my top reads for 2025.
