If you are working with non-professional choirs or amateur choirs, you certainly know how hard it is to keep your choir motivated. When your choir members don’t have the official obligation to be a dedicated choir member (because they are not being paid to be in the choir), it is of most importance to make them feel motivated to stay in the choir and to be committed to it, so you, as the choir’s conductor or director, can count on them. Especially when the choir is under a lot of stress, when it’s the busiest time of the season, when the pressure is high and when they probably can choose to avoid the extra stress in their lives. Well, there are many things you can do to influence their willing to stay, and it depends mostly on what kind of a choir it is, who are its members, and what kind of a leader you are. My name is Iva, and I am a professional pianist who somehow landed a career conducting and managing several choirs - so I know from experience how difficult it can be when you don't have any help. It doesn't matter if your choir is a big or small one, if it's a church or a school choir, if its members know how to read music or not. Every choir is an important choir because it assembles people wanting to sound great, and to feel accomplished. This is why every week I will try my best to give the most efficient advice on issues concerning from music to management. So go on, subscribe, and be a part of Enquire 2 Choir!
