You’ve finally stood face-to-face with Death himself, but the end of Narinder’s reign is just the beginning of a much colder story. Did you make the right choice at the end of the world? If you’re struggling with the new winter mechanics or wondering who Yngya is, this guide breaks down the transition from the Old Faith to the frozen peaks of Woolhaven. QUICK FACTS / TL;DR The Choice: Sparing Narinder grants you the Immortal Trait follower. Murdering him grants a unique trophy/decoration but loses the best follower in the game. Woolhaven Unlock: Requires defeating the 4 Bishops. Offer Mushrooms, Crystals, Silk, and 1 Sin at the north statue. New Deity: Yngya is the forgotten God of the Lambs. Restoring them brings the Winter season to your base permanently. Hazard: Watch for Frostbite. Followers without warm clothes or near a Generator will eventually perish. DEEP DIVE: THE ECOLOGY OF THE OLD FAITH Transitioning from the final boss to the expansion is the biggest difficulty spike in Cult of the Lamb history. Sparing Narinder is objectively the stronger play for your economy. As seen in the footage, once he’s indoctrinated, he retains his Immortal status, meaning you never have to worry about his faith-draining death or resurrection costs. However, the world doesn't stop just because death is on your payroll. The reawakening of Yngya shifts the very balance of the Lands of the Old Faith. Understanding Yngya & The Rot: The expansion introduces a dual-threat system that changes how you interact with every biome. The blizzard in the clip isn't just a visual filter; it represents a fundamental change in gameplay: Environmental Survival: Your movement speed is reduced during active storms, and visibility drops. You must prioritize building the Steam-Powered Generator (unlocked via the new Divine Inspiration tree shown at 06:30) to keep your flock from freezing. The Rotburn Cycle: To keep the fires lit, you'll need Rotburn fuel. This is harvested from the new "Rot" dungeons. These enemies are unique because they are mutations—they duplicate upon death, meaning your weapon choice is more important than ever. High-AOE Curses like Touch of the Revenant (seen in your inventory) are your best friend here. THE BISHOP'S LEGACY: POST-GAME PROGRESSION Now that the Bishops are gone, the "Witness" enemies have taken over. In this video, we see the transition into the Mountain Biome. To survive here, you must manage your Internal Temperature. If your lamb stays away from a heat source for more than 120 seconds, you begin taking ticking damage. This adds a "race against time" element to every crusade that wasn't present in the base game. WINTER CULT MANAGEMENT STRATEGY Managing 20+ followers in the snow requires a shift in your Divine Inspirations. You’ll notice in the video at 07:15, we navigate the new upgrade tree. The Kitchen Upgrade: Essential for cooking "Hearty Broth" which gives followers a temporary shield against the cold. The Fur-Lined Tents: Normal shelters will now collapse under snow weight. Upgrading to the Woolhaven-style shelters is no longer optional if you want to keep your Faith levels from plummeting every morning. The Ritual of the Hearth: This new ritual allows you to instantly refill all heat generators at the cost of 50 Wood and 10 Bones. It’s a lifesaver during the "Great Freeze" events that occur every 10 in-game days. SECRET FIND: PILGRIM'S PASSAGE WINTER SECRETS The clip shows us reaching the lighthouse in the dead of winter. If you look closely at 10:25, there is a Hidden Ice Egg behind the shipwreck. By using the "Release the Souls" mechanic near it, you unlock the Narwhal Follower Form. This form is specifically tuned for the expansion, as Narwhal followers generate 10% more Devotion when assigned to the new Ice Fishing ponds. TACTICAL WEAPON SUMMARY We were rocking the Vampiric Flail XIX in this run. While the life-leach is great for boss sustain, the slow swing speed can be a liability against the fast-moving "Rot-Stalkers" in Woolhaven. I recommend pairing this with a high-speed Curse or switching to the Godly Dagger meta if you plan on farming the Mountain peaks for the rare "Blue Crystal" resources needed for late-game.
