Date filmed: Tuesday the 7th of January 2025 Videos filmed between 11:36 and 11:51 Route: Chatham Main Line Rainham (Kent) (RAI) Station Crossing type: Manually Controlled Barrier crossing with CCTV (MCB-CCTV) Filming location: B2004 Lower Station Road, Rainham (ME8 8ED) A couple of weekday morning videos filmed at this relatively busy level crossing beside Rainham Station in Rainham on the edge of Medway, Kent. This is on the busy Chatham Main Line, and high-speed services into/out of St. Pancras International via High Speed One feature on third rail power. This is also the south eastern-most calling point and terminus for Thameslink services, which use a 'bay' platform at the opposite end of the station, as much as they're not really designed to be ridden from end to end in mind. This level crossing bodily dates back to 2004, with the LED's and barrier arms themselves all that has been changed since. The intriguing signal box here has been out of action since 2016 when control was passed up the line to the East Kent Signalling Centre, though it is now boarded up in quite an unsightly way.
