Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program Helps Housing Choice Voucher Participants Achieve Their Goals

RCAP Solutions has several specialized programs for Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher holders, which can assist individuals and families with economic independence, workforce development, and overall improved quality of life. The Family Self- Sufficiency or "FSS" Program helps Housing Choice Voucher holders and Project-Based Voucher recipients reach their employment and education goals, while financially rewarding them with an interest-bearing escrow account for increasing their earned income. During this 5-year program, participants are provided supportive counseling, financial education, and credit success workshops. FSS participants will work one-on-one with their case manager to develop an action plan to achieve their goals – whether it be to secure employment, further their education, or start a business. Upon successful completion of the program, participants receive access to their escrow account, which can total up to $25,000. In addition, RCAP Solutions also offers the FSS Savings Match Homeownership Program, which is designed for higher income earners who are interested in purchasing a home. This program helps participants achieve their goal of owning a house by matching their savings 3-to-1 to be used for a down-payment. Participants in this program gain access to workshops and trainings which prepare them for owning a house and teach them about exclusive fixed-rate mortgage options. Upon successful completion of the program and purchase of a house, these new homeowners are eligible to receive a $5,000 bonus in a reserve account.
