The sudden order has sown confusion and alarm as the reason for the meeting has not been disclosed. The order comes after the Trump administration fired numerous senior leaders this year. As per report, even top generals are not aware of the reason for the said meeting. The order comes amid the threat of a government shutdown faced by the Trump administration. According to a report in the Washington Post, Defence Secretary Hegseth in the order stated that it "applies to all senior officers with the rank of brigadier general or above, or their Navy equivalent, serving in command positions and their top enlisted advisers." // Trump urges Turkey to stop buying Russian oil as Erdogan chases deal on F-35s US President Donald Trump has urged Turkey to stop buying oil from Russia, part of a wider drive to cut off Moscow's energy funding as the war in Ukraine rages on. Speaking alongside President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the White House, Trump said halting those imports would be "the best thing" his Turkish counterpart could do. During a brief question-and-answer session alongside Erdogan in the Oval Office on Thursday, Trump said he would like Turkey to stop "buying any oil from Russia while Russia continues its rampage against Ukraine". "The best thing he could do is not buy oil and gas from Russia," Trump said. "If he did that, that would be the best thing." The US president's comments come just weeks after he said he stood poised to impose tougher sanctions on Russia if Nato countries met conditions that included halting imports of Russian oil. // It’s not going to happen’: Trump says he won’t allow Israel to annex West Bank In his first public comments on the matter, US President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank. “I will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank. It’s not going to happen,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office when asked to confirm reports that he assured Arab and Muslim leaders of that stance during a multilateral meeting held Tuesday on the UN General Assembly sidelines. // An Israeli soldier was killed in a Hamas sniper attack in Gaza City on Wednesday, the military announced on Thursday morning. The slain troop was named as Staff Sgt. Chalachew Shimon Demalash, 21, of the Nahal Brigade’s 932nd Battalion, from Beersheba. According to an initial probe by the Israel Defense Forces, Demalash was manning a guard post at an army encampment when he came under sniper fire Defense Minister Israel Katz tweeted his “deep condolences” to the family, saying that the State of Israel “honors his bravery and embraces the family in these tough moments.A volunteer who met Demalash, Avi Even Chaim, described him to Haaretz as “a brave, modest soldier with a big smile and a huge heart.”“Chalachew exhibited strength alongside a rare goodheartedness; he connected with everyone, loved his friends, and always volunteered first to stay behind and stand on the frontlines,” Even Chaim said. Meanwhile, an Israeli airstrike on a home where displaced people had taken refuge in central Gaza killed at least 11 people on Thursday, the spokesperson for the Hamas-run civil defense told AFP. // The Israeli Air Force carried out strikes on Thursday against Houthi military sites in Yemen’s capital Sanaa, in response to the Iran-backed group’s repeated attacks on Israel, including a drone attack on Eilat a day prior.The Israel Defense Forces said it struck seven targets belonging to the Houthis’ “security and intelligence apparatus” and army, including a top military headquarters. Hours later, the Houthis fired a ballistic missile that set off sirens across central Israel, sending hundreds of thousands of people to bomb shelters The Houthis said the strikes killed at least eight people and wounded more than 140. On Wednesday, the Houthis launched an explosive-laden drone that evaded Israeli air defenses and struck the resort city of Eilat in the south, wounding 22 people, including two men in serious condition. Israel vowed to respond to the attack, claimed by the Iran-backed group. The 20 fighter jets dropped more than 65 munitions on the seven Houthi targets, marking the highest number of munitions used in a single IAF strike in Yemen, according to the military. Aerial refueling was also conducted during the operation, during which the fighter jets flew approximately 2,200 kilometers (1,367 miles) to reach their targets in Sanaa. In all, seven targets were struck, including five military headquarters where Houthi operatives were gathered, and two weapon storage facilities, the IDF said
