1/4/26 Title: "God's Vision for the Local Church" Text: Matthew 28:19-20; 2 Timothy 2:1-2 Speaker: Phillip Santillan Clarity Church gathers every Sunday at 10:00am at Edinbrook Elementary School in Brooklyn Park, MN One year from now, what do you want to be different in you? In this New Year message from Clarity Church (Brooklyn Park, MN), we open to Matthew 28 and 2 Timothy 2 to talk about what Jesus actually calls his church to do, and how disciples are actually made. Paul’s pattern is simple and it is deeply practical. Before you give, receive. When we try to follow Jesus and disciple others in our own strength, it usually leads to one of two outcomes: burnout or pride, and both are spiritually dangerous. The better way is what we call the Dependence Triangle: receiving grace, practicing dependence, and discipling others. In other words: receive, rely, disciple. This sermon is for the person whose faith feels strong but you’re tired, and for the person who is still deciding what you believe about Jesus. It’s also a clear vision for our church: everyone discipling one, with prayer and dependence on Jesus, not vague and busy Christianity. #ClarityChurch #Discipleship #PrayerAndFasting #greatcommission ======= Table of Contents 0:00 Intro Video 1:16 Title Video 1:29 Busy vs meaningful and the urgent vs important fight 4:16 “One Year From Now” and numbering our days (Psalm 90:12) 7:12 A question for Clarity Church: what do we hope will be different? 9:58 The pressure for a fresh vision and a healthier way forward 14:26 Jesus’ mission for the church: “Make disciples” (Matthew 28:19–20) 15:45 What a disciple is and why Jesus’ presence changes everything 17:22 Two common reactions: disqualified feelings vs ideal church fantasies 21:30 Grace and dependence as the posture for disciple-making 22:16 Paul’s pattern (2 Timothy 2:1–2): receive grace, entrust to faithful people 26:41 A simple vision for Clarity: make disciple-making normal and intentional 28:31 Plan like it matters, pray like we cannot do it without Jesus 32:08 The Dependence Triangle: Receive, Rely, Disciple 33:17 Get practical: three lanes of disciple-making 33:29 Lane 1: not discipling anyone yet (resist guilt, pray, pick one person) 35:36 Lane 2: discipling but random (add a simple repeatable rhythm) 37:53 Lane 3: it’s going well (multiply and ask “who’s your one?”) 39:33 One year is not guaranteed (James 4:14) 40:11 Finish the work: living for the good news of God’s grace (Acts 20:24)
