Wild Valley is set amongst the wooded hills and open plains of the Victorian high country. Craig and Tahnee are licensed brumby runners; they help to maintain a sustainable number of herds by capturing and breaking in some of the wild horses. Living amongst the beautiful wilderness of the high country, Craig and Tahnee plan to marry outdoors in just a few weeks' time. But nature has other plans for them. Vast, marauding bushfires sweep the terrain, scuppering their immediate wedding plans and threatening, not just their home but their very lives. Craig and Tahnee reveal how close they came to death, and how they managed to escape the ferocious flames. The couple must now somehow deal with the grim aftermath of the fires. The terrifying experience of the fires, and the predicament of the brumbies, inspire Craig and Tahnee to pursue a dream: to create a sanctuary for the brumbies. Here, the horses will be free from the threat of starvation and illegal hunting. But first, the couple has more pressing plans to get off the ground, like preparing for their long awaited wedding. So they make a trip to Melbourne, where negotiating city streets doesn't come as naturally as lassooing wild horses.
