To hook your filter up to the UV sterilizer, fit the outgoing hose from the filter to the bottom molded barb. The water will flow through the advantage unit, sterilizing the water, and then flow through the top molded barb through a hose back into your aquarium. Before fitting your lamp and transformer to your unit, make sure to run water through the unit for 10 to 15 minutes to make sure there are no leaks. To attach your lamp and transformer, untighten the Davis connector on the transformer, take out your lamp, being sure not to touch the glass of the lamp. Connect the lamp and connector of the transformer to the lamp, making sure that it is flush. Slide the lamp into the housing unit, making sure that it is straight. Tighten the transformer cap, followed by the Davis connector. Plug the transformer into a GFCI outlet. You will know that your unit is working when the transformer cap flows.
