Professor Sandy Lazarus, who is the co-author of the textbook entitled, Educational Psychology in Social Context: Ecosystemic Applications in Southern Africa (4th edition), is a former Educational Psychologist with a good publication record in Educational Psychology and Critical Community Psychology. Her presentation titled, Implications of decolonising and decolonial lenses for the professional development of psychologists in Africa, offers a theoretical critical lens to understand how academic programmes and curricula takes seriously the dynamics of power. The symposium was hosted by the Trans-Disciplinary African Psychologies Programme in the Institute for Social and Health Sciences (ISHS) at the University of South Africa (UNISA) and the Violence, Injury and Peace Research Unit at the South African Medical Research Council for the 1st Pan African Psychology Congress, 2017.
