It is this embroidery, the foam layering and the shortness of the skirt that sets these folk costumes apart from others in the area. 2: Dude peteroglasne (solo on the bagpipes from the region of Podravina) Musical Arrangement: Stjepan Večković 3: Stari Splitski Plesovi (dances from the Dalmatia region) Choreographer:Branko Šegović Musical Arrangement: Nikola Buble In the past people of Split, commoners and citizens, were often danced "monfrina", "four" and "šaltin polka", dances that in their movements and costumes maintain the visible influences of Western Europe and the Mediterranean, adapted to local social conditions. 4: Starovinska Pivanja (songs from the Island of Mljet and Gornja Poljica village in Dalmatian Hinterland) Musical Arrangement: Krunoslav Šokac Includes ojkalica singing, a special voice shaking technique protected by the UNESCO list of intangible world heritage. 5: Samičarsko Nadigravanje (tambura instrumental from the region of Slavonia) Musical Arrangement: Alan Kanski - Željko Lukačin - Saša Dostičić 6: Linđo - dalmatinsko kolo poskočica (dance from the City of Dubrovnik in Dalmatia region) Choreographer and Musical Arrangement: Zvonimir Ljevaković In the broad area of Dubrovnik - the pearl in the tourism of Croatia and the Mediterranean - the most popular dance is the 'kolo poskočica', best known as the 'Linđo'. It is danced to the accompaniment of the 'lijerica', an old traditional instrument, and the dance is led by a caller who chooses the couples and announces the change in dance figures with his witty interjections. 7: Bunjevačko Momačko kolo (young man dance from Vojvodina region) Choreographer: Zvonimir Ljevaković Musical Arrangement: Božo Potočnik Bunjevci Croats live in the Northwestern part of Vojvodina in Bačka. Their most favourite dance is the "young man's dance" in which the skills of the boys come to the fore, which, by chirping with rattles attached to the boots, achieve special sound and rhythmic effects. ABOUT LADO: LADO, the National Folk Dance Ensemble of Croatia, was founded in 1949 in Zagreb as a professional national ensemble, with the aim of researching, artistically interpreting and presenting on stage the most beautiful examples of the rich traditions of Croatian music and dance. LADO has assembled the talents of the most recognized Croatian folklorists, choreographers, folk musicians, composers and conductors. LADO’s imposing repertoire, both choreographically and musically, is respected throughout the world for its authenticity consisting of more than a hundred traditional, rich, diverse choreographies and several hundred vocal, instrumental and vocal-instrumental numbers. The ensemble's 38 brilliant dancers, proficient in both folk dance ensemble and impressive folk choir, while its 14 superb musicians play some eighty different traditional and classical instruments. The LADO Ensemble owns a unique collection of original national costumes of exceptional value and beauty (more than 1,200 costumes) providing remarkable insight into the traditional clothing worn by Croatians. LADO is a world class ensemble and one of the world's best folk ensembles. LADO has performed in some of the world's most prestigious venues like the Royal Albert Hall in London, theatres on New York's Broadway, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, the Mann Auditorium in Tel Aviv, the Olympic Games and more.
