How accurate is Google Maps—really? In this video I put its travel-time prediction to the test with a full, uninterrupted 25-mile real-time drive from Epworth (North Lincolnshire) to Hooton Pagnell (South Yorkshire) in a Citroën C5 Aircross. Google Maps predicted 49 minutes for the same route a year later… My actual recorded journey? Watch and see! To keep everything fair, the footage is continuous and in real time, with a timer running from zero in the corner of the screen. I stabilised the original recording just enough to make it watchable, but the timing is untouched. There’s one exception: I had to pull in for diesel, so the refuelling time has been removed (but the drive in and out is kept). To balance that out, I trimmed a few seconds at two later traffic lights — so expect Google’s estimate to be within a few seconds either way. The route also includes three railway level crossings, making it a great test of whether Google Maps accounts for real-world delays… or simply ignores them. If you’ve ever wondered whether Google’s travel times are accurate, optimistic, or just lucky, this is the drive to watch. Thanks for riding along — enjoy the journey. #Doncaster #Epworth #HootonPagnell #SouthYorkshire #NorthLincolnshire #DoncasterDriving #IsleOfAxholme #YorkshireVillages #DoncasterRoads .................
