Originally named Newtown until the 1890's, Elmhurst is one of Queens popular neighborhoods. We will be walking along Broadway, and then on Grand Avenue. Broadway and Grand Avenue are the same road - Once we pass Queens Blvd, Broadway turns into Grand Ave. This stretch of road is mostly commercial, but there will be some residential areas once we get close to the Maspeth area. It is a nice day for a walk, and we will see a good amount of people out and about. There will also be some busy traffic noise in the first half of the walk, but the 2nd half of the walk will become more quiet. Along the way we will pass Elmhurst Hospital, stop and look at the graveyard on the grounds of the Reformed Church of Newtown, and we will walk through Elmhurst Park. We will end the walk in the Maspeth neighborhood. There, we will see some of the businesses and eateries that line the streets of Maspeth, before ending on 69th St and Grand Avenue.
