What a revelation our night with Laura Evans and her band was - those who were there have most certainly caught a rising star. With Josiah J Manning (guitar and vocals), Daisy Pepper (bass) & Joe Harris (drums and vocals) she took to our stage for the first time to play to a crowd who, with very few exceptions, hadn't seen her before. Within a few short hours that room full of people were converted to fans... But don't take our word for it, here's what Alan Moore (who we thank for catching a lot of video) said: The Boss (Richard Dunning) did it again last night bringing the amazing Laura Evans to our Club. I for one had no clue what to expect music wise but she just blew us all away. With the exception of Simply The Best (which as it turns out is a very good song for Laura to be performing) and Arkanas all the tracks were original and self written. From the first BOOM CRASH TWANG from the band to the waving goodbye the whole room were tranfixed on her singing, she was also very brave and clearly willing to take a risk by asking the audience to suggest a word or subject and she would make up on the spot a blues song containing the suggestion, the first one was Gold which wasn't too bizarre but the second was Sheep and to be honest I never even dreamt of hearing a blues song about Sheep let alone somebody making one up as she stood in front of us but she did and she did it well, albeit with a certain amount of giggles added for good measure. If you weren't there to see her I can only say catch her next time she visits us or on her tour of the UK which started last night you won't be disappointed. Now videos really won't ever do justice to actually being there so do grab a ticket and go and see a show!
