Film shows the building of an interprovincial pipeline during the summer of 1950. At that time the longest pipeline in the world, 1,129 miles of pipe was laid from Edmonton, Alberta to Superior, Wisconsin in a record time of 150 days. Three years later in 1953, the line was extended another 643 miles from Superior to Sarnia, Ontario. Final sequence shows Alberta's Premier Manning opening a valve to send first gush of oil on its way to Sarnia, where 26 days later, Premier Frost of Ontario greets the tanker "Imperial Leduc" at the end of her maiden voyage.
