[#Lab_Tube] Life detection radar sensors Disasters like fire, explosion and collapse can cause severe damages of human life. And a lot of technologies that enable rapid responses at disaster scenes have been developed. On this week’s #Lab_Tube, we look into the AI SoC Research Division of Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute which has developed semiconductor radar sensor technologies for rescue operations. The research team has developed a life detection system that can rescue survivors at disaster sites which are difficult to have a clear view. The system has implemented two radar sensors and it can detect biometric signals including the movements of survivors, heart rates and breath. It will be developed into a smaller item that can be attached to a helmet or a smartphone of firefighters. And it is expected to be applied to real disaster sites.
