Play through Halo Reach with lore accurate weapon damage and health. Heroic and Legendary is recommended. Difficulty Tuning Easy: Even less enemy damage. Even less accuracy Normal: Less enemy damage. Less accuracy Heroic: Lore accurate weapon damage. Normal accuracy. Legendary: Slightly higher enemy damage for an increased challenge. Increased accuracy. How Lore Damage Was Achieved This mod adjusts weapon and entity damage/health values to align with Halo lore, based on extensive research across novels, comics, and other sources. Lore weapon damage varies widely (depending on the author and dramatic intent). To balance this, values were averaged into consistent 'middle ground' figures. Final weapon damage vs. unit types is included in an image with the mod. New Weapons Reach Concept Art LMG: 90 round clip. Fires long and with good stopping power. Halo CE Assault Rifle: Assault rifle has been restored with original sounds, damage values, etc. Halo CE Magnum: Included in all its .50 cal TNT tipped round glory. Notable Campaign Changes This modification rebalances the sandbox, but only a few campaign levels were adjusted. Below is an overview of key level changes: Long Night of Solace: Updated beach section. Lone Wolf: Fight with the remnants of the UNSC forces in the area. Gameplay Tips Vehicle health is not tied to player health like in Halo 2 and Halo 3. If you see your vehicle on fire, it's at 50% health so consider finding some other mode of transportation. Marines are much more aggressive than in vanilla but are still fragile. (Similar to CE mod). Abuse your spartan sprint speed. Flank enemies, bum rush high value targets and get out quickly, have fun. Try out all weapons. With lore accurate balance, even weapons like the Needler can be surprisingly effective, even without supercombines (few things in real life could stand being impaled by 3 large shards that explode and the lore supports this). Shotguns have 7x the range of vanilla. Non-Damage Lore or Balance Adjustments Noble team: Can get knocked out if they take enough fire. Once nearby enemies are taken out, they'll regain consciousness. (Known bug that once in awhile, they'll revive in a T-Pose. Knock them out yourself to fix it). Sprint speed: Increased to lore accurate levels. Unlimited sprint and evade. Plasma Repeater: Fire rate increased. Shotgun: Extended effective range and tighter pellet spread, making it a more reliable close-to-mid range weapon. Grenade Launcher: Less drop, much higher radius. One of the most useful weapons in the game now. Explosives (Grenades, Fuel Rod, Rocket Launcher, Wraith Mortar, Scorpion Shell): Expanded blast radii. Ghosts: Increased speed to reflect their role as agile scout and attack vehicles in the lore. Enemy AI: Engage at longer ranges with significantly increased rate of fire, creating more challenging encounters. Allies: Improved combat effectiveness through longer bursts and extended engagement ranges. Deliberate Lore inaccuracies Several lore inaccuracies are acknowledged but deliberate for various reasons: Vehicle Durability: Lore-accurate vehicle health made the campaign unreasonably difficult in testing due to plasma weapon effectiveness and encounter design. Many vehicles have increased health past what is lore accurate.
