Spanish guitarist Francisco Tárrega (1852-1909) was inspired by the many water features (such as the Lion Fountain) he saw at Granada's Alhambra Palace, and composed "Recuerdos de la Alhambra." The tremolo technique, which involves repeating the same note rapidly, expresses the flow and sound of water. The word 'tremolo' means vibration or fluctuation in Italian, which also brings to mind water. Tremolo is a technique often used to express long sounds on instruments whose sound decays quickly, like a guitar. It does not combine well with piano, requiring a difficult technique called 'repeated notes.' Furthermore, grand pianos and upright pianos have different internal structures, with grand pianos having higher repeated note performance. The original piece has a sense of longing that is accentuated precisely because it is played on guitar, which is limited by the range and number of chords. In this variation, I tried to imitate the tremolo technique and repeat the same notes to preserve the guitar-like feel.
