Two of them- crimson fruits found me there far along my route. These must be heavenly, bounty perfect as can be, presents that were sent by God above. I'll give them my love. Though for so long I've roamed, shall I cease and take them home? Greet my love with delight? Tears of joy to last the night? See the moon, shining bright, oh-so full and at its height? My concerns you allay. Let's go home without delay! For in the shadows on a night this dark, a bear stalks through the woods and tracks its mark. After so long searching, all my pain, I have found them in my arms again. I have what's mine by light divine, and now never shall we part so long as I'm alive! Quickly, I run through the forest maze leaving flowering blossoms in my wake, carrying these scarlet fruits and clinging to them tight so that once I'm back by his side, then the world will finally be alright. Happiness is within reach, the future lies in sight! Then, from the haze of dread and fear, an angry and frightening bear appears with a horrid face contorted by cruelty. Oh please, forgive me, oh please just leave me be! Let me run away and go in peace... but in my heart, I know the bear loves them so; just as much as I, and I know how much it hurts to tell them goodbye. Wandering on through the dark, on my journey I embark; never losing sight of these fruits, my joy, my light. With its back lit by the moon, now the bear will reach me soon. Drawing ever closer, I can see its shadow loom. Even though I cannot know which path I should now follow, I continue running on. Only ever running on. Echoing, I heard it cry. Full of tears, then so did I. Not as loudly as these fruits, a truth I can't deny. Now I have finally arrived. These fruits of mine are safe and sound. My husband greeted me smiling before he looked around. Once he saw the fruits that lay cradled gently in my arms, he did not seem happy. In fact, he then seemed quite alarmed. “Listen, my love, you still need to face you've lost something that you can't replace. Our children are gone. And we need to move on. Please, dear, go bring them back to where they belong. I'm sure their mother's terrified, searching for where her babies have gone.” No matter how I want to flee, I can't escape reality, sinking in its claws and ripping down into my core. Those two fruits so kind and warm, perfect children I adore, at any cost, they are mine once more! God, how I pray you hear my plea, Wanting has overtaken me! and so I did commit, by my own hand, a heinous sin. “If you go now, you can make it right again.” That was what he said, but even then.... “That can't be! Don't you... see....” Lying outside our house, the bear's lifeless corpse now sleeps; that poor lady was a person- somebody like me…. And in a basket still, a bottle of milk has spilled. That glass bottle lay beside the woman I....
