Original Song: B's Revenge · B Komachi - Ruby Hoshino (CV: Yurie Igoma), Kana Arima (CV: Megumi Han), MEM-cho (CV: Rumi Ookubo) TV Anime “Oshi No Ko" Character Song CD Vol.5 Oshi No Ko Season 3 Episode 1 / Episode 25 Insert Song • Bのリベンジ Piano Arrangement by Justin Wai -------------- Oshi No Ko is back and Doga Kobo is once again cooking with gas, starting us off with a banger B-Komachi song and some extremely fluid eye-candy animation. Honestly after the trainwreck that was the manga ending I never thought I'd be able to get excited for this series again. But I just have to give it to this studio for an absolutely stellar adaptation, enhancing the source material in a basically perfect way. Now all I have to hope for is some similarly strong plot modifications... anyway, I'm ready to enjoy this season for what it is for now. B-Komachi songs and my channel have a strange history. I wouldn't say they are my best or my favourite covers by any means, but they always seem to find a way to invade the Japanese YouTube algorithm. Sign Wa B was my first video to ever cross 1k views back in my channel's infancy, and POP IN 2 remains the most popular video on my channel today, at over 140k views. It's kind of poetic how Episode 1 opens with them explaining how POP IN 2 went viral and shot up B-Komachi's popularity, and I get to reflect on how my cover also put my channel in front of a large Japanese audience for the first time (though, nowhere near as much as B-Komachi did of course). So I sort of feel obligated to give this viewer base at least one new B-Komachi cover per Oshi No Ko season. And hey, this time it's right at the beginning! Arrangement wise, I actually think this song is musically quite interesting. It seems to blend elements from a lot of the previous songs, as well as YOASOBI's Idol. This is also reflected in the visuals. A line from Sign wa B is referenced verbatim in the prechorus at 0:46 and is aptly given to Kana to solo. I love how the brief levity it brings before we head into the key change and high energy chorus. The chorus itself contains a lot of chromatic goodness and actually follows the same chord progression as IDOL. Another key IDOL reference are the "Bolero" drums at 0:33, with that triplet rhythm and rapping. Overall I actually found this song to be the most fun one to arrange from B-Komachi's discography so far - and I even managed to sneak in the full version this time as well! Thank you for watching and reading this week's arranger's commentary! I continue to be super busy with videos as I just can't keep up with all the amazing anime releasing this season.
