Heike Fabig and Richard Boele will share their deeply personal journey of supporting their two sons Kai and Bodhi, who died six years apart. Bodhi was able to access the care and support that maximised his quality of life till the very end, tragically Kai was not. Heike and Richard have a unique perspective on systems that work and systems that don’t work. A powerful message at the dawn of a new government responsible for the next steps of health and care reforms. Adding his voice, will be palliative care specialist and Chair of Palliative Care Australia, Dr Peter Allcroft. Peter will honour the lessons of Kai and Bodhi’s experience and reinforce the priority actions of the palliative care sector for the 48th Parliament of Australia. The night will be wrapped up in the trademark wit, wisdom, and warmth of Jean Kittson as our MC. Jean is an author, actor, and comedian, who brings her own experiences as a carer to the discussion. Cocooned in the iconic Street Theatre in Canberra, this conversation seeks to bring our community together to recognise the contribution the palliative care sector makes and inspire the next steps of health and care reforms.
