What You Need to Know About Korean Noodles - A Guide to Eating Guksu (Noodles in Korean)

TL;DR There are really only 2 types of Korean noodles to buy from the dried noodle section. Somyeon or wider type of Guksu. These wheat flour noodles can be used interchangeably (imho) although purists may say otherwise. This video covers Korean noodles in the dried food section of the Korean supermarket. So this applies to dried noodles only. The reason I mention it is because there are more varieties available only in the frozen section- like Jjolmyun 쫄면 (super springy, chewy noodles) and Naengmyun 냉면 (the ones you eat cold). Will make video about those in the future. I wanted to make this video about the most common types of dried noodles used in Korean cooking, especially about the super-thin ones called Somyeon because it's just HUGE personal fave 🤭. Some notes to... note after I watched the playback- unfortunately after I uploaded the video. Sorry about the volume, you'd think I'd get the hang of it by now, but the volume turned out a bit loud. In regards to the "3x Boil Method", I would like to clarify I didn't invent the method. I just assigned an ultra-cool catchy name to it😎. Many people already know and use this method. 국간장 Soup Soy Sauce: More salty, less sweet soy sauce made for making soup. 진간장 All-Purpose Soy Sauce: Sweeter, tastes good right out of the bottle. Jin Ganjang traditionally refers to a quality, mature soy sauce- but I'm referring to what most soy sauce companies call their all-purpose soy sauce. I made a bunch of mistakes probably ( I didn't actually time the cooking time of noodles so may be off,, but honestly do a taste test to get it right for YOUR preference) so SORRY-- this video was a tough one to finish up neatly for some reason.
